His first start at The Valley proved to be eventful for former Erith & Belvedere striker, Chris Dickson.
On the one hand, he left the pitch shortly before the final whistle to a standing ovation from the Valley faithful following an electric performance that had home fans on the edge of their seats.
But that didn't permit the striker to escape some strong criticism midway through the second period from coach Mark Kinsella, who clearly wasn't happy with a piece of showboating.
"I've got a few tricks in my locker, and obviously I pulled one out,” laughed Chris after the final whistle.
"I was, like, 'well, it got there', but he was, like, 'I don't care. Look, we're sitting bottom of the league, we haven't got time for that'. And I was, like, 'cool, cool, cool' - I'm not going to argue with Mark Kinsella!”
That incident apart, Dickson's display on his first senior start in SE7 after a 23-month wait was nothing but positive.
After signing from non-League Dulwich Hamlet in March 2007, the forward was initially unable to play for the remainder of the season because he moved outside the transfer window.
He had subsequently been restricted to substitute appearances as other striking partnerships, and lone frontmen, were preferred - until his first start at Turf Moor last month.
So after straining to start at The Valley, how did it feel to walk off the pitch to the applause of the Addicks supporters?
"It felt good,” he said. "Obviously, it would have felt better if I'd scored as well, but that'll come, definitely. "I knew I would start eventually, and when I got the nod during the week, I said 'yeah, I've got to put on a show,' so hopefully everyone was entertained.”
Although he didn't find the net, Dickson produced an effervescent performance alongside loan recruit Tresor Kandol that fully occupied the Pilgrims defence.
Argyle goalkeeper Romain Larrieu produced two fine stops, one in each half, to deny the forward, and one run down the right flank from his own half, that ended in another good save, will live long in fans' memories.
"It took me 10 minutes to recover after that,” joked Chris. "I just nicked it off, I think, Simon Walton, and obviously just kept on going.
"I saw defender after defender coming, so I thought 'keep on going' - I think I should have taken a swing with my left foot in the end, but obviously the keeper parried it. But like I said, the goals will come - definitely.” He added: "Me and Tresor have clicked automatically it feels like, and obviously I just want us both to start banging in some goals.”
With Deon Burton having collected a fifth booking of the season after entering the pitch as a late substitute in place of Dickson, ruling him out of the trip to Barnsley on Saturday as he serves a one-game suspension, the duo are likely to again start up front at Oakwell.
And although he handed in a transfer request before Christmas, when he was frustrated at a lack of first-team opportunities, Dickson insisted he remained committed to the Addicks - and could soon withdraw his request. "I did put in a transfer request - I obviously just felt like I wasn't getting the rub of the green with regards to playing, but I'm happy here,” Chris explained.
"I'm playing football, I'm enjoying playing football, and obviously I just want to get us up the table and make sure we stay in the Championship for next year. He added: "I'm still transfer-listed, but a withdrawal is imminent. Obviously, I'm playing, and like I said, I'm enjoying it, so obviously a withdrawal's round the corner, definitely.”
On Charlton's survival bid, Dickson is sure that the club has enough quality to escape danger.
”We're seven points away now,” he said. "If we win all our home games, or win the majority of our home games, and hopefully the rest of the results go our way, and we'll be out of there.
"I can't see this club being relegated - this club's too big to go down. At the end of the day, there's too much quality there for us to go down, and obviously we just need to keep working hard and getting the results.
"We could have scored three, four, five, against Plymouth, so we can definitely climb out of this relegation zone.”

Well done Dicko!
